Medical rhinoplasty: the art of enhancing your nose without surgery

Number of readers: 12641

The nose is one of the facial features that causes the most complex feelings! Too big, too long, or too wide... Everyone has a very personal perception of what beauty or the "norm" is. Today, it is entirely possible to modify it without resorting to surgery, thanks to medical rhinoplasty. Let's take a closer look!

What is medical rhinoplasty?

The nose is made up of four main parts: a bony pyramid base (the nasal bones), cartilage reliefs, perinasal muscles, and a skin covering. The aesthetics of the nose must take into account the facial morphotype and the physiological aging of the face. Therefore, medical rhinoplasty is not a trivial procedure and requires some explanation.

Medical rhinoplasty is a non-invasive technique that allows for the reshaping or correction of the external appearance of your nose. This aesthetic treatment involves injecting a certain amount of hyaluronic acid to improve visible imperfections (smoothing a bump, enhancing the profile, or lifting the tip of the nose). Thus, it does not address internal defects (such as a deviated septum). The final result lasts on average between 12 and 16 months. Therefore, medical rhinoplasty is an appealing alternative for those resistant to cosmetic surgery.

How does a medical rhinoplasty session proceed?

Before you begin, the aesthetic doctor will meet with you for a preliminary consultation. He will examine your nose from the front and profile and will be able to answer your questions. At the end of this appointment, a quote will be provided. If the treatment plan meets your expectations, you can proceed with your first session.

During this session, a numbing cream will be offered for greater comfort, half an hour before the injection. The session lasts 30 minutes and is almost painless due to the presence of lidocaine in the syringe of the injected product.

Are there any precautions or contraindications to consider?

Precautions

There are few precautions to take before proceeding, as medical rhinoplasty is not a demanding treatment. The only pre-treatment precautions are to avoid taking anticoagulant medications, anti-inflammatories, vitamin C, and omega 3s. These precautions help to prevent the risk of hematoma after the treatment. About two weeks after the procedure, your doctor will see you for a follow-up visit. A touch-up may even be possible. Between the two consultations, you will need to avoid wearing glasses if they rest on the injected area.

Contraindications

It is important to inform your doctor if you have a history of allergies to the injected product, as well as if you are undergoing anticoagulant treatment.

Before you embark on this aesthetic procedure, take a moment in front of the mirror to assess your nose and analyze its potential imperfections. The key is to engage in this aesthetic treatment for yourself and not for the opinions of others. If you feel ready to take the plunge, then proceed with medical rhinoplasty under the best conditions.
