Laser hair removal is a proven technique that has been around for many years. The number of patients treated with laser hair removal is countless.

The destruction of the hair will occur through the heating of its root. There are several hair growth cycles, hence the need for multiple sessions.

The laser has demonstrated significantly greater efficacy than any other pulsed light method.

FOR WHOM?

It is important to understand what type of skin and hair laser hair removal can be effective on.

For this purpose, a free medical consultation is systematically conducted beforehand with a laser physician at the Centre. During this session, we will check whether your skin has any contraindications for the laser procedure and if your hair will be responsive to the technique.

The target of the laser is the pigment (melanin) contained in the hair. Therefore, blonde, red, and white hairs cannot be treated. In such cases, electrolysis remains the only option.

Technological advancements mean we can treat any skin phototype (colour) safely and with optimal effectiveness.

The human body has 3 types of hair:

fine or downy hairs
intermediate hairs
terminal or thick hairs
Laser hair removal is effective on intermediate and terminal hairs. Regarding fine and downy hairs, we will use a laser specifically designed for this purpose called REVLITE with a different treatment protocol.

The age factor is very important as the hair system stabilises for women from the age of 20 and for men, it stabilises later at around 35-40 years.

A free initial assessment will always be proposed by a laser physician who will rule out any contraindications.

The hair removal laser, like all lasers at the centre, is performed by qualified laser physicians. These are only female doctors (for those who may feel uncomfortable, this is more pleasant).

WHY I CHOSE PERMANENT HAIR REMOVAL?

Since I arrived in Paris, I've been waxing since I was 12-13, which is more than half my life. From the beginning, I've been using several methods: electric epilator, wax (in salons), razor… Each method has its pros and cons. I've never been particularly obsessed with perfection, though I haven't been very comfortable with visible hair either. At first, I only waxed during the summer. Then I started doing a lot of sports (and thus spending much more time in shorts or even swimwear). Hair removal became a real burden: time-consuming, painful (I'm not particularly sensitive, but waxing is still quite unpleasant), ingrown hairs… Most of all, I had to think about it all the time, spend more time in the shower, when I would have preferred to devote my energy to other things.

Permanently removing hair started to become an interesting alternative.

THE PROGRESSION OF SESSIONS:

I chose to go through an aesthetic doctor. For the technique employed, for professionalism, and for medical expertise. The first appointment involves obtaining the informed consent of the patient, presenting the method used, and verifying that you are a good candidate for laser hair removal. It is also advisable to wait until hormonal maturity (20 years for women and 35 years for men) to ensure the best long-term results. The number of sessions will depend on skin type, hair density, and the area treated. On average, it takes between 4 to 8 sessions, spaced out by a few weeks at the start, and then less frequently towards the end.

It is essential to avoid any sun exposure both before and after a session. Therefore, summer is not the ideal time to start; however, it is not an absolute contraindication either. The skin should be shaved (not waxed) a few days beforehand.

After the session, the skin may become slightly red (this is a sign that the laser has worked effectively). It is important to hydrate well for 48 hours afterwards. I admit I didn’t do this much, and I didn’t experience side effects, aside from mild itching. In the coming days/weeks, most of the hairs will fall out on their own and will not regrow.

THE RESULTS:

The results are truly very encouraging. I haven’t touched a razor in three months. My underarms and bikini area are practically flawless. What a joy not to have to worry about them anymore. In terms of my legs, the aesthetic result is also very good. I have a few fine blonde hairs remaining, particularly on my thighs. They are almost invisible and don’t bother me. I know they will be more challenging to remove because the hair does not contain enough melanin in that area.

Subsequently, I will need to have another session at the end of summer and another one if the hairs grow back.

In conclusion

For now, I am delighted with the results obtained. I feel like I have freed myself from the mental burden that hair removal represented. The laser technique works very well for me, and the aesthetic outcome is very satisfactory.

Proven effectiveness 

PROTOCOL

Depending on the quality of the hair, the doctor will determine the duration to be respected between laser hair removal sessions. This interval ranges from 4 weeks for the face to 6 to 7 weeks for the body.

It is crucial to destroy the hair during its growth phase. Waiting too long between sessions could result in not being in the optimal growth phase of the hair at the time of the session.

An average of 6 to 10 sessions are necessary to fully satisfy your request.

However, there are cases where the number of sessions may be higher. This phenomenon cannot be foreseen during the assessment. Various physical reasons may be responsible (hormonal disorders, too fine bulbs, laser resistance…).

Patients at the Centre are treated exclusively by qualified doctors. Depending on the area being treated, the session duration varies from 15 minutes for a bikini area to 2 hours for full legs, bikini, underarms, arms… During the session, we can treat as many areas as you wish that will be validated during the initial assessment.

The laser centre is equipped with a cooling system for the skin that numbs the skin simultaneously with the laser shots being carried out. Sensitivity during the sessions is quite tolerable.

At the end of the session, the laser doctor will apply a soothing cream.

THE REGULARITY OF HAIR REMOVAL SESSIONS IS CRUCIAL FOR THE OVERALL EFFECTIVENESS OF THE COMPLETE TREATMENT.

PRECAUTIONS

Currently, there is no equivalent in terms of effectiveness other than laser. Pulsed lights are present in non-medical aesthetic centres; however, studies show a notable insufficiency in effectiveness.

We do not treat pregnant women or patients with inflammatory dermatological diseases.

As with all medical techniques, there is no such thing as zero risk. However, these side effects are extremely rare (pain, tingling, rarely burns, hyper or hypo pigmentation). The very high technology used in lasers is completely safe.

To ensure total safety, we remind you that we do not treat patients who have been exposed to the sun or UV rays during the month preceding the session.

The entire treatment spans over a year considering the number of sessions, the intervals between sessions, and holiday breaks. Hence, there is no ideal time to start laser hair removal sessions.

Patients with hormonal disorders such as polycystic ovary syndrome may see an increase in their number of sessions.

RESULTS

It is important to know that laser hair removal currently allows, as numerous medical studies prove, an effectiveness of 80 to 90% for the treated areas. However, 5 to 10% of patients may either not respond or require a very significant number of sessions. Unfortunately, we cannot know this until the sessions have been carried out. We still wish to be transparent regarding these statistics.

Comfort sessions: Patients who do not wish to or cannot undergo a complete treatment may have a laser hair removal session 15 days before their holiday, ensuring peace of mind for the 2 months following the session.

Young women: The laser should be started after the end of puberty. For those under 16 who still wish to reduce their hair growth, we offer the REVLITE laser, which is for treating fine hair and has effectiveness lasting several months.
