The principle of vascular laser

The vascular laser is a validated technique that has been medically mastered for around twenty years. Our centre is equipped with 5 lasers, thus covering all indications in terms of vascular treatment.

The Yag technology – pulsed dye

The Centre is equipped with two vascular lasers as there is a laser for each type of pathology affecting the blood vessel.

The target structure

Each laser has a treatment target. When we speak of laser hair removal, the target is the pigmentation of the hair.

The vascular laser targets the blood contained within the blood vessel.

Indications for the vascular laser

It is important to understand which types of blood vessels the vascular lasers can effectively treat.

To this end, a free medical consultation is systematically carried out with a laser physician at the Centre beforehand. During this session, we will check that your skin does not have any contraindications for laser treatment. A quotation and consent form will be provided during this consultation.

Which vessels?

The common point among all vascular pathologies is the dilation of the blood vessels. When present in large numbers, this becomes unsightly and uncomfortable.

There are various pathologies affecting the blood vessel:

  • Erythrosis: diffuse redness of the face exacerbated by climatic variations, temperature changes, and certain foods. This redness can be permanent or occur in episodes referred to as flushes. In erythrosis, the blood vessels are not distinguishable, only a diffuse redness.
  • Couperose: well-defined and visibly permanent blood vessels on the face, neck, and décolletage.
  • Varicosities in the lower limbs: similar to couperose but located on the legs.
  • Ruby spots, angiomas, and erythrosis coli are also treated at the Centre.

The different techniques of vascular lasers

The vascular laser acts by destroying the blood vessel through its intra-vascular coagulation system.

There are two modes:

  • simple coagulation mode
  • purpura mode: this corresponds to the complete destruction of the vessel and is accompanied by the diffusion of blood under the skin, leading to the appearance of a bruise that fades within a few days.

Contraindications for vascular laser treatment

We do not treat pregnant women, patients with dermatological inflammatory diseases, or patients undergoing photosensitising treatment.

Adverse effects of vascular laser treatment

As with all medical techniques, there is no such thing as zero risk.

However, it is important to be aware of the potential outcomes of the laser treatment depending on the indications.

The laser in simple coagulation mode will have minimal adverse effects. Redness and swelling may occur, potentially persisting for 3 to 15 days.

The laser in purpura mode is accompanied by bruising corresponding to the destruction of the blood vessel and thus the diffusion of blood outside the vessel. This is impressive but very effective for treating erythrosis.

Other adverse effects are extremely rare (pain, tingling, and rarely burns, hyper or hypopigmentation). The highly advanced technology used in lasers is completely secure.

Procedure for vascular laser sessions

Patients at the Centre are treated exclusively by qualified physicians. Depending on the area being treated, the session lasts between 15 and 30 minutes.

The laser centre is equipped with a skin cooling system that numbs the skin while the laser shots are administered. Sensitivity during the sessions is quite tolerable.

At the end of the session, the laser physician will apply a soothing cream.

Depending on the severity of the vascular lesions, it may be necessary to undergo between 1 to 4 sessions. However, there are cases where the number of sessions may be higher. Maintenance sessions will likely be needed every year or two.

The interval between each session is approximately 4 weeks.

To ensure complete safety, we would like to remind you that we do not treat patients who have been exposed to the sun or UV light in the month preceding the session.

Sun protection is mandatory after any laser treatment.

Our centre is equipped with devices such as the Vbeam Perfecta from Candela and GentleMax Pro from Candela.

All laser treatments conducted at the Centre are carried out by our team of qualified physicians. The practice of laser treatment is a MEDICAL PROCEDURE.
