Relieve swollen legs with pressotherapy

Swollen legs are caused by the stagnation of fluid in the lower limbs. Generally, the swelling affects both legs uniformly. In addition to the sensation of heaviness in the limbs, redness may also appear. Pressotherapy will be effective in promoting better venous circulation.

Why do we have swollen legs?

Heavy! That's the feeling when the legs are swollen. Legs like tree trunks, nothing more unbearable! The ankles swell up... There are many causes of swollen legs, some of which are minor but still worth monitoring. This swelling is related to fluid retention and can be painful. It can complicate walking. The swelling is often caused by venous insufficiency, which leads to an oedema (often associated with a water retention issue).

A swelling may sometimes necessitate a consultation with a doctor to rule out a potentially serious cause. Swollen legs can also be a sign of phlebitis, kidney disease or heart failure. This should not be taken lightly.

Why opt for pressotherapy?

Pressotherapy is a technique that activates venous and lymphatic circulation. It is an effective treatment for venous disorders of the lower and upper limbs. Through these lymphatic drainage sessions, oedemas, sensations of heavy legs, or swellings disappear. This technique will also serve as an excellent complement to manual drainage performed in physiotherapy. It has the power to act on veins and cellulite by eliminating water retention. It is also preventative against the appearance of varicose veins. Thanks to its optimal action, it promotes the elimination of toxins.

How do pressotherapy sessions unfold?

If pressotherapy refines the silhouette, it is aimed at both women and men experiencing circulatory disorders, oedemas, or that unpleasant sensation of heavy legs. Pregnant women can even benefit from it for their legs only. 10 to 15 sessions are recommended to achieve a good balance and improve the look of your legs. The more sessions there are, the more patients will notice the impact of this treatment on water retention or cellulite.

Pressotherapy is not painful. It is performed using an electric device in continuous mode (to treat venous insufficiency) or sequential mode (ideal for targeting cellulite and addressing water retention). The device consists of sleeves for the arms and boots for the legs, as well as an abdominal belt. A session lasts on average between 20 and 30 minutes. A medical appointment must take place beforehand to ensure there are no contraindications.

Do not hesitate to consult a doctor to understand the cause of these swollen legs before embarking on pressotherapy.
