Overcoming brown spots? It's possible!
They are real sources of complexes... Often deemed unattractive, brown spots or age spots appear on the skin for various reasons. In any case, these excess melanin deposits, which we could do without, can be eradicated through various aesthetic treatments. So there’s no need to panic; for every inconvenience, there is a solution!
What is a brown spot?
These are small spots on the skin of varying sizes, often located on the face, hands, arms, or shoulders. This is no surprise as these areas are directly exposed to the sun during nice weather! Brown spots are therefore a direct consequence of excessive sun exposure over several years. They often become apparent after the age of 40 but can also be present in younger individuals due to lengthy and prolonged exposure. They can appear, for instance, after sunburns. This is why sun exposure should be done reasonably and certainly not between 12 PM and 4 PM!
Brown spots are generally not dangerous to health, but one must remain vigilant to avoid confusing them with a melanoma. They often appear on individuals with fair and thin skin, although this is not an absolute rule as even darker skin types can be affected. A consultation with a dermatologist is highly recommended. If they do not require specific treatment, they can still be subject to aesthetic treatments to lessen their appearance.
How to remove brown spots?
Several techniques can put an end to brown spots. These include peeling and laser treatments.
Mela Peel
The Mela Peel is a recommended alternative for treating pigmented spots and dermal melasma on higher phototypes. In other words, this medical peeling will be equally effective for fair skin as well as for darker skin types. The specific cosmetic that the doctor prescribes after this peeling helps prevent rebound pigmentation that Asian or darker skin types tend to experience following certain peels.
While a session lasts between 15 and 30 minutes, it is broken down into several steps. Initially, the skin is cleansed and then cleaned with a specific mousse. The doctor then applies the keratolytic peel all over the face. Finally, the Mela Peel mask is applied particularly to the most pigmented areas.
The patient can return home with the mask on and slightly flushed skin, but nothing more. The transparent mask will go unnoticed, although it should still be rinsed off with water and removed 8 hours later. The spots will gradually fade, giving way to an even and radiant complexion. It will then be necessary to apply a suitable repairing and protective cream every morning and evening for the following month to maintain and enhance the results. The Mela Peel comes in two forms: classic and strong, depending on the effect desired by the patient.
Laser Treatment
When the signs of ageing (brown spots, etc.) appear prematurely due to sun exposure, laser photorejuvenation can be employed to treat brown spots and improve skin texture. The skin then has a more youthful appearance. The light beam is directed at an irregular area of the skin. The anomaly is then eliminated, and collagen production is stimulated.
Unlike peeling, there is no peeling of the outer layer of the skin. This laser photorejuvenation treatment gently penetrates the skin and destroys imperfections without damaging the outer layer. However, if a few spots need to be removed, expect about 5 days of healing for each one.
Multiple sessions of 15 to 20 minutes are often necessary for optimal results. The effects are visible from the very first treatment. A sunscreen should be applied as a precaution for 3 to 4 days following the treatment.
If you see brown spots starting to appear, do not panic! Several aesthetic treatments can significantly diminish them. Do not overexpose yourself to the sun to retain only its benefits.
