Remove solar lentigo with Revlite laser
At the end of summer, sun exposure can leave traces beyond sunburn! This is known as lentigo, darker spots on the skin. Often referred to as "age spots", these brown patches appear on the most sun-exposed areas of the body, such as the face and hands, and are more often caused by ultraviolet rays than by aging.
What is lentigo?
There are several types of brown spots, resulting from an excessive production of melanin that leads to hyperpigmentation of the skin. Some spots have an obvious source, such as the well-known pregnancy mask associated with hormones or spots resulting from skin inflammation.
The solar lentigo, in particular, refers to an accumulation of melanin in areas of the body that are particularly exposed to the sun. Thus, brown spots do not appear with age but rather as a result of the accumulation of years spent under sun rays. While the appearance of these spots can trigger stress, be aware that they are generally benign and common. However, it is essential to monitor their evolution on the body. If lentigo appears, some choose to apply essential oils with anti-pigment properties, such as celery or carrot oil. But there is an appropriate aesthetic alternative.
Why choose Revlite laser?
To treat pigmented lesions, the Revlite laser will have a photo-mechanical effect. The photons from the laser beam will travel at high speed towards the melanin molecules in order to destroy them. Thus, unlike intense pulsed light, the laser has a wavelength that will only be absorbed by the pigments we wish to eliminate.
A preliminary examination will be necessary to determine the nature of the bothersome pigmented spots. This practice allows for the removal of the initial epidermal layers. It also enables the gradual fading of skin breaks. The laser performs a surface exfoliation. This promotes the production of new collagen deep within the skin. The number of sessions will depend on the significance of the spots.
On the treatment day, you must ensure that you have not been in the sun and that your skin is thoroughly cleansed and free of makeup. The laser beam will be applied to the spots. The sensation is not painful; you may feel a slight warmth. At the end of the session, you can apply a moisturising cream locally. After about 3 weeks, a thin film will peel off on its own, taking the pigments of the spot with it. If a second session is required, it should be scheduled 4 to 6 weeks later.
In case of the presence of lentigo, do not hesitate to consult in order to genuinely establish the origin of these spots and also to get rid of them if they bother you.
