Luxopuncture: say "Stop" to tobacco before your health goes up in smoke

Number of readers : 15333

“Smoking is taboo; we will all overcome it!”, chanted actors Bernard Campan and Didier Bourdon in the film “Le Pari” in 1997. The duo fought against the lure of the cigarette. While the two companions brought smiles to the faces of audiences and smokers of that time, years later, it remains just as difficult to resist the urge to smoke. However, a particularly ingenious method called luxopuncture can assist you on this journey.

Why is it so hard to quit smoking?

“Smoking kills,” is the slogan that has been repeated for years and displayed on cigarette packets. Although they are now sold in packaging with difficult-to-sustain illustrations, this does not prevent nicotine addicts from consuming tobacco. It is challenging to say “Stop” overnight. After trying patches, chewing gum, or taking it out on food, many relapse. Not always due to a lack of motivation, but out of habit... The habit of having a cigarette during the 10 am break at work, after lunch, and again in the afternoon during a quick break with colleagues…

Despite the known detrimental effects of tobacco on our health as well as the radiance of our skin and hair, the number of smokers remains high. France counts nearly 16 million smokers. One in three young people aged 15 to 19 smoke, even though more than half claim they want to quit.

Luxopuncture, the needle-free treatment

Luxopuncture is a technique that addresses various symptoms and problems without the use of needles. It is akin to acupuncture but without pain or side effects. It involves an infrared process that stimulates the meridians, which have the role of carrying energy throughout the body. The practitioner places a stylus on the skin to activate specific reflex points and nerve endings. This helps regulate the production of hormones (serotonin, endorphin, and dopamine...) involved in the craving to smoke. Luxopuncture also has an impact on weight issues, menopause discomfort, and sleep disorders.

The smoking cessation treatment consists of a course of 5 sessions (one per day) to assist the smoker during their withdrawal period, followed by a three-month follow-up. The treatment should begin when the patient feels ready and motivated. Luxopuncture will thus help the smoker enhance their well-being to alleviate smoking compulsions (an irresistible need to smoke). This method will also help ease irritation in the ENT area (sinuses, taste buds, throat…) caused by cigarette smoke and provide a calming effect to combat the consequences of withdrawal: nervousness, irritability, and excessive appetite.

Subsequently, recommendation sheets and digitopuncture will support the former smoker in managing everyday life and avoiding slipping back into stress phases, among other things. If the person feels that they may crumble, one or two additional sessions should be planned. A study conducted by an independent CRO (Clinical Research Office) TEREO INTERNATIONAL on 188 subjects revealed some findings. 90.5% of the tested individuals stopped smoking after the treatment. An encouraging figure for those who have used different cessation techniques.

Why wait until 1st January 2020 to embark on good resolutions? Start considering solutions now to say “Stop” to tobacco. Luxopuncture could be a springboard to make this daunting task easier for you.
